Message From The Chair

Welcome to the Department of Political Science and Public Administration.

Our department, which was established in 2012 under the name of "Public Administration" with the restructuring of the Faculty of Political Sciences, started its education life by accepting undergraduate students for the first time in 2014. In 2016, our department's name changed to “Political Science and Public Administration”.

The Department of Political Science and Public Administration %30 English Programme includes 7 professors , 3 associate professors, 4 assistant proffesors, 1 doctor, 7 research assistants and 1 lecturer; and also 4 professors, 3 associate professors, 5 assistant proffesors, 1 doctor, 3 research assistants and 2 lecturers have a part in The Department of Political Science and Public Administration French Programme. The Department tries to fulfill its responsibility in the best way for the production, discussion and transfer of academic information with 41 academic staff and more than seven hundred students. Being aware of the importance of the interdisciplinary approach in making sense of social facts as well as the two main disciplines that make up the department's name, we offer our students a wide range of subjects from economics to sociology, from law to philosophy in the compulsory and elective courses of our teaching curriculum. We are aware that the action of learning is not unilateral. It is our first priority to offer a learning environment that includes different stakeholders to our students who are teaching in our department. As a department, we strive to create this environment with the activities we organize and the student activities we encourage. The primary priority of our undergraduate education in our department is to provide the knowledge and critical thinking skills that our graduates can use in every career path they can choose. In addition, we make bilateral agreements with leading universities. We lead and encourage our students who want to participate in teaching and internship mobility abroad by taking advantage of exchange programmes.

In addition to teaching, research activity also forms the basis of the idea of the university. In the last three years, our department has published 192 scientific documents (books, book chapters, articles and papers), which corresponds to 9 scientific documents per faculty member. In the same period, 10 scientific projects were carried out by our faculty members. We work to increase academic knowledge with the Public Policy and Governance and Non-Governmental Organizations graduate programmes and research activities carried out within our department.

Although the Department of Political Science and Public Administration is a young one, it soon became one of the well-established social sciences. According to the 2018 university admission exam results, it ranked fifth among the departments of political science and public administration in public universities. We look forward to everyone looking for an interdisciplinary approach in political science and public administration education, with an increasing quality of teaching every year.
